Wife and I used to get Portillos once a week, now it's once a quarter and normally due to sheer convenience, not desire The only thing that seems to have remained semi-consistent is the chopped salad, hot dog and the cheese burger, but so many other items have gone downhill, either due to quality of product or portioning

Portillos has been overrated since the mid 00s, but it is still a good beef I harbor some resentment towards them because every Portillos that opens kills a mom and pop hotdog stand It is the Walmart of hotdogs and beef Bouna, Al's, Johnnie's, and anywhere that serves Scalas have always been as good if not better than Portillos

The Portillo's Barnelli's by us was still good going into the Covid shutdown, really upped their carry out service as a result but also trimmed the menu to almost nothing Biggest negative I had on them before the shutdown was how some orders too forever to fill (sign menu is too big), but you always had a lot to choose from Post Covid, menu is a fraction what it used to be Still have good

Portillos isn’t mind blowingly good- it never was during its peak and it isn’t now when it’s definitely declined It’s just comfort food for a lot of us that we grew up with The Maxwell polish tho IS amazing and better than actual Maxwell street
