My Howa 1500 308 has a scope base (EGW) without a recoil lug It hasn't come loose in the 3700 rounds I've put through it (no muzzle brake) IMO this is an overblown problem Tighten the screws to the correct torque (15 - 20 in-lbs for 6-32 screws) with med strength thread locker and they will not come loose
